everything happens for a reason

Prepare yourself with a plan, but let God guide you to the best.

The saying “everything happens for a reason” can be comforting. It suggests there’s a bigger plan out there, even when we face losses. We may not always understand why things happen, but there’s no doubt that losing something can change us in profound ways. Sometimes, the biggest lessons about ourselves and the world come from the heartache and emptiness we feel after losing something or someone.

It’s a reminder that everything happens FOR YOU and FOR a reason, even if it doesn’t make sense at first.

Katherine May, in her book “Wintering,” talks about the idea of “embracing the winter.” Winter, like a time of hardship or loss, is a natural part of life. It’s a season of letting go and making space for new beginnings. Just like winter, loss can be tough. It can make us face things we’d rather avoid and force us to re-think what matters most. But in the end, it can also make us stronger and more adaptable.

Imagine a tree in a storm. Branches might break and leaves might fly away, but the experience strengthens the tree’s roots. The roots have to dig deeper to hold on. Loss, like the storm, can shake us up and make us feel insecure. But just like the tree, it can also reveal a hidden strength and resilience we never knew we had.

Viktor Frankl, a psychologist who survived the Holocaust, wrote in his book “Man’s Search for Meaning” that “We can always choose our attitude, no matter what happens to us.” Loss can take away things we cherish, but it also gives us the freedom to choose how we react. Will we give up, or will we choose to learn, grow, and become stronger?

Moving forward after loss can be hard, but the lessons we learn can be incredibly valuable. We might start to appreciate what we still have more, understand our values better, or discover new creative talents. Loss can also push us to try new things, meet new people, and make unexpected connections.

The saying “everything happens for a reason” might not mean there’s a pre-written plan. But it can be helpful to find meaning even when we experience loss. We can acknowledge the pain, learn from it, and choose to move forward with a newfound strength and openness to what the future holds.

Let me end this story with a very beautiful words,
